The realm of functional ceramics has always captivated me as a way to examine social relationships, world history, culture, foods and of course the way objects facilitate the daily rituals that weave the web of living. In recent years, I’ve been incorporating more plants, and animals onto my forms, allowing them to become more sculptural. Growing into something that means to expresses the process of becoming, waiting to become. I hope making functional work in this way builds opportunity for reflection and communion that encourages deeper engagement with our world and everyone in it.
