My art is a reflection of my experiences. Creating the pieces gives me the opportunity to re-live memories and share the feelings of the moment with others. I use watercolour in a batik-like process on Ginwashi paper which is semi-transparent, light-weight and full of small fibers that attract the pigment and add to the texture of the finished piece. Wax is used to preserve the colour and value of each layer. Watercolour layers are applied from light to dark with attention being paid to the effects of layering transparent colours. The final step is to iron off the wax and watch the end result appear. It is always an exciting moment for me!
