A Dawson City-based contemporary mixed-media artist who has explored many art disciplines during her life but is now focused on abstracts, creating works using acrylics, or the more luxurious medium cold wax and oils, and collage.
Mainly self-taught, but in the past 5 years has been deeply involved in online courses with some of today's most renowned abstract artists, Nicholas Wilton, Pamela Caughey, Lisa Pressman and Judy Woods. She has also taken in-person courses with Janice Mason Steeves and Jerry Mclaughlin.
She lays down many layers of paint, shapes, and marks, sanding back to reveal partial underlayers and then repeats the process. Shapes appear and morph into other shapes, the pieces change daily. There is no pre-conceived concept at the start of a piece, the work goes where the paint takes it. This process could take weeks, or longer.
She is recently embarking on a project merging representational elements within her abstract paintings.
