The Furniture Studio was created by craftsman-cabinetmaker Karel Aelterman as a celebration of the tenth anniversary of his woodworking career. As a matter of fact, since 2004, he has been producing high-end craft furniture and teaching cabinetmaking courses in his studio in Gatineau before moving to Wakefield, Québec.

Karel is a professional craftsman, who is recognized by his peers and has participated in several exhibits. He is a member of the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec and the Ontario Craft Council.

Born in Belgium, he has grown up among classic and contemporary European furniture. From this intimate contact will spring a particular sensitivity and refinement that distinguish his creations. Apart from his unique creations sold in galleries and in his own studio, he has had the opportunity to apply his knowledge of wood as a medium on a great variety of projects.
