Jane Kidd was born in Victoria B.C. Canada. From 1980 to 2011 she lived in Calgary Alberta and taught at the Alberta College of Art and Design. Currently she lives on Salt Spring Island in B.C. where she maintains an active studio practice. Her beautiful, technically demanding and conceptually rich tapestries provoke profound questions about handcraft, disciplinary knowledge and the importance of bringing historical practices into the contemporary art arena for critical discussion and debate. Jane has exhibited in numerous solo and over fifty group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Japan, Poland, Hungary and Australia.
