My objective is to develop visual pieces that are entirely based in positive psychology and neuroscience research findings, that can improve mood and quality of life. Based on empirical, scholarly data, I am creating oil paintings and illustrations that can visually improve human brain chemistry.
The most recent series of pieces can act as Personal Protective Visuals (PPV) to keep us visually and mentally safe, not unlike the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that has been keeping us alive since The Global Pandemic began. This project has also evolved to murals in public spaces.
The science proves that human beings connect (and are visually pleased by) lush nature scenes, vivid saturated colours, round and organic shapes; to name a few. Incorporating The Aesthetics Of Joy (work by Ingrid Fetell Lee), the research of Annie Murphy Paul (author of The Extended Mind), Lisa Feldman Barrett (Seven and a Half Lessons About the Brain) among others into this body of visual art will ensure a widespread and accessible benefit to every audience.
