The Walking Alongside Trauma (WAT) initiative, led by the Craft Council of BC (CCBC), is a material-arts based exploration of the vicarious traumatization of sexualized violence. The purpose of our exhibition is to examine the various impacts of the vicarious traumatization of sexualized violence (VTSV) on society, particularly for those who interact directly with survivors’ trauma (e.g., crisis support workers, family members, health care workers, educators, peers, etc.), who we refer to as “Witnesses".
The funds raised will be instrumental in documenting our findings, compensating exhibition artists, providing on-call therapeutic support during the exhibition, promoting awareness about VTSV, and offering meaningful honorariums to project participants. Your contribution will help foster a more empathetic and informed community response to sexualized violence trauma.
So please join us for an evening raising funds and connecting with friends for this great initiative. Hosted at the Flamingo Room the event will feature music by Lenny Pallerstein and a silent auction of experiential items to choose from.
