About

Laura Pitkanen is a carver and woodworker who primarily handcrafts knives from juniper wood. Laura sustainably harvests juniper and using only hand tools, she works to achieve balance in the curvature, grain, and function of this durable, fragrant wood. Currently, Laura is also sustainably harvesting white oak to make cookery and tableware and experimenting with centuries old curing methods using water and fire. Her work has shown in the juried exhibition Housewarming at Craft Ontario, 2019.
