About

Kathleen Morris is a maker and educator working in the field of textiles. Her current textiles practice centres on the often imperceptible web that connects humans to that which is more than human. Working with the plant life found in her urban environment, Morris embeds leaves, stems, and fronds into the woven textile, exploring their material properties and paying homage to their source. The slow and deliberate pace with which the work unfolds strengthens the alliance that informs the work, and infuses it with time, depth, and lived understanding.

Kathleen is a graduate of OCAD University, and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto, with a research concentration in craft pedagogy and practice. She taught in the Material Art and Design Program at OCAD University from 2005-2022, is a past-Board member of Craft Ontario, and a current Board member of the Canadian Crafts Federation.
