Lori is the Fused Glass Diva! All her painting and glass cutting is done by hand. Each and every fused piece is “one of a kind”.
The Fused Glass Diva has taken on a new twist to an old art form! Traditionally, reverse painting on glass is a “cold art” form consisting of applying oil paint to a piece of glass and then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image. Lori takes it a step further with a special glass enamel paint and adds about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit to the process! Every layer of paint in the process gets fired in the kiln. The result is that it all becomes beautiful intensely coloured glass. Most projects will take between 3 and 7 kiln firings, sometimes more, depending on what is being produced.
Layers of glass in combination with reverse painting, heat, and gravity, all come together resulting in quirky outcomes, giving it a quaint folk art physicality that is part of the charm.
