Donna Stockdale makes two and three-dimensional wearables, sculptures, and wall pieces, employing felt-making, natural dyeing, stitching and botanical printing techniques.

“My connection to the physical environment, which began as a girl living on a prairie farm, has grown stronger over the decades living in wild, rugged northern Saskatchewan near La Ronge. Bundling leaves with cloth in natural dye baths connects me to the nearby boreal forest, providing an unending source of joyful surprise and experimentation. Feltmaking also challenges me to find new ways to create texture, shape forms, and integrate colour, expressing the often unnoticed part of this environment, as well as the incredible beauty in this landscape.”

Donna’s wet-felted boreal forest-inspired images and sculptural pieces have been exhibited nationally in juried and other group exhibitions, including Dimensions, the Saskatchewan Craft Council’s biennial touring exhibition. She received the Fibre Art Award for Eli’s Coming at the 2016 Mann Art Gallery’s Winter Festival Art Show and Sale in Prince Albert. Donna has participated in Art Now, the Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair and the Saskatoon HomeStyles Show. Her work sells at craft markets and several Saskatchewan galleries.
