À propos

My work explores the concept of sustainable memory. I am interested in how memories are preserved – not the tangible thing that is often mistaken to be the memory, but the non-tangible story that is embedded in the thing. I am constantly analysing the notion of “lose the thing, save the memory” which leads me to discover many layers of time. Buried in these layers I discover forgotten artefacts which in turn lead me to reclaim and sustain fragments of memory.

My hybrid art includes photographs digitally enhanced, printed on fabric with archival inks, and embroidered with a free style straight stitch to give my subjects a new contemporary soul . Printmaking techniques and painted canvases form backgrounds.

Primarily self-taught, I have added to my educational background in Human Resources and Adult Education by attending classes at New Brunswick Arts and Crafts College, George Brown College and the Stratford Festival of the Arts. I have obtained Certification in Textile Surface Design from the Haliburton School of the Arts, studied the foundations of Visual Arts with the Toronto School Board’s Art Centre and completed the foundations accreditation for the Artists in the School Program sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council. I continue to work on my Fine Arts Degree with the University of Guelph.

As an active member of several professional organizations that support the Artist Community, my works are part of private and public collections including St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, the Ilkley Museum in Yorkshire, England and the CAMAC Centre for Art and Technology in France.
