About

Fieldcote Museum, Ancaster, ON
Sept 19 - Nov 7, 2020
Learn what our ancient White Cedars can tell us about the unique Niagara Escarpment ecosystem, through this series of framed textiles and wall hangings. Guided by her horticultural background Roy will speak about the fascinating ecological information that can be drawn from 'reading the rings' of trees. Born and raised in rural Southwestern Ontario, Lorraine Roy developed an early appreciation for the land and its natural beauty. Her introduction to the fabric arts at her mother’s knee began a lifelong passion for textile art. Using raw edge fabric appliqué and machine embroidery, she builds images that bridge science and spirituality with the surprising versatility of fabrics and threads.
For artists, ecologists, gardeners, and anyone who exalts in the presence of trees!
