About

Home is where the heart is in this 3-day workshop. Hook a likeness of a home near or dear to you or someone important to you. A home can be much more than just brick & mortar; it can be a place full of warmth and fond memories of childhood, a place you raised your family, or a doorway you just passed through many memorable times. Topics covered in this workshop include making a pattern, how to hook key architectural elements, the importance of directional hooking, selecting textured wool fabric that will hook into perfect bricks & stone, simplifying detail and framing and finishing your work.

Elaine Copeman is an accredited OHCG (Ontario Hooking Craft Guild) teacher and interior designer. Her entry, “Bertha at the Beach”, was the winner of the wide cut award at the 2012 OHCG annual event. In addition to teaching regular classes at her home studio in Toronto, Canada, she has taught workshops at several other venues including the Textile Museum of Canada, Loyalist College, Trent School of Rug Hooking, the OHCG School and Reeth Rug Retreat in England. Elaine was privileged to travel with Multicolores, a non-profit hooking cooperative, to Guatemala where she helped teach a group of native Maya women to hook rugs. Through the sales of their rugs, they are greatly improving their lives and community.
