About

Exhibition: March 28 - May 30, 2020

Reception: Saturday, April 4, 2 - 4pm

Not wearable, the objects on display are to be contemplated, creations to fondle, and to wonder at. The scale is intimate, handheld. In this body of work, the artist encases rocks with structures of welded steel, much like a line drawing, and finishes it by adding electroformed copper and gold. This exhibition speaks to human attempts to control and possess nature.

Charles Lewton-Brain is an art jeweller living in Calgary, AB with an international reputation. Amongst his achievements, he received the Saydie Bronfman Award in 2012, the highest honour to a Canadian working in Craft. He is a tireless innovator and has lectured and taught in England, Australia and across North America.

This event is free and everyone is welcome. RSVP not required but it helps us plan.

* This exhibition and event will run concurrently with the reception of The Spaces Between by Leah Kudel.
