About

Inspired by the art, music and fashion of the 60’s, this latest series of fused glass work by Jeremy Dane Morris was created over the course of the 2020/2021 pandemic.

“For me, this has been a time of reflection, with a focus on early influences from my past: The Beatles, Andy Warhol, and Carnaby Street fashion, all figured prominently. The result is a bright and playful blend of Mod-style colours and design in glass.” Jeremy Dane Morris

Circle Craft Co-operative is proud to present glass artist and co-op member, Jeremy Dane Morris, in showcasing his mixture of light blues, turquoise, bright orange, burnt sienna and pastel greens in fused glass. Join Jeremy on a trip down Memory Lane into the 60s as he transforms the abstract shapes of glass in his “Go Retro” exhibition.

Glass Fusing: The Process…

Firstly, coloured sheet glass is cut and layered on a circular, square, or rectangular clear glass base. This is carefully loaded into a glass kiln where it is heated to melt all the pieces to form a flat tile. This tile is sandblasted to remove any kiln wash, and the edges are ground even, before being returned to the kiln for surface and edge polishing. The tile is then placed on a mold for slumping to give it the shape of a bowl, platter or dish. Finally, bowls are ground flat on the bottom, sushi plates have feet added, and each piece is signed by the artist.

The “Go Retro” exhibit runs between August 2-31, 2021.

Don’t forget to drop by for a soft opening on August 2!

Circle Craft gallery on Granville Island is open daily from 10am-5pm.
