A felt artist since 2001, Monica enjoys working with the natural wool fibre colours of cream, greys, browns and blacks, including fibres from Pender Island raised sheep and alpaca. For many pieces, she chooses to work with only the natural fibre colours. Removing colour from the design equation, she believes encourages the viewer to remain longer with her pieces, allowing them to consider texture, form, function and structure. Monica's work showcases the natural world, focussing on the small and often overlooked parts of that world, reminding the viewer of its fragility and beauty.
