Most of the ceramic work I do now is with porcelain clay. I love this material for its soft, buttery feel when working with it. But it is not user-friendly. It has taken me many years to achieve the very thin-walled, translucent pieces I build, and they require much patience, many hours of work and usually five firings each to build up the layers of glaze and imagery I like to use. My paintings are on silk. I have used this as a canvas for my work for many years because I like the way it takes colour and the special glow it gives to colour. A new avenue of work that I have been pursuing has been utilizing digital imaging to create works on silk.
